Frederiksen Family Vacation 2011, Part 5

In Seattle we decided a good way to see the city would be by "duck". We hopped aboard the amphibious vehicle, and made our way around town.

It drove us right past the famous Space Needle...


then we took a dip in Lake Union....


we had a great view of the city.....


and of the local football and baseball arenas.



After riding the duck we all headed into Pikes Place Marketplace. We bought some fresh fruit and pastries. It was fun to wander around through each of the vendors and see what was for sale.



After wandering the marketplace we had worked up quite the appetite so we decided to have dinner at a nearby Brazilian grill. Following lunch Chris and Rachelle wandered to find the notorious "gum wall".


Unfortunately half our group had to get back home to work the next day, so we packed them up and sent them to the airport that afternoon. That evening we had scheduled to meet up with my cousin Cheryl and her husband Dana. They live outside the city in a cute condo. This is the view of Seattle from Cheryl's balcony.


The next morning we packed our bags and left the city to get to our next stop in Seaside, Oregon. When we arrived at the Worldmark we were pleasantly surprised to see it was right on the beach. We could hear the waves crashing from our rooms. The resort was gorgeous. This is the view of the pool.



We took a walk down the beach. Check out those beautiful cliffs in the background!


A few miles down the beach were the remnants of a shipwreck from many years ago.

The whole trip Scott talked about how much he wanted to eat crab while we were so near the ocean. That night was the night!

The last day of our vacation we decided to start out at the Aquarium in Seaside where they had a brand new baby seal, it was born just days before these pics were taken. I could have spent hours here because he was so adorable!

This waterfall was one of the many beautiful scenes on our way home. Oregon is a gorgeous state.
